Shoalwater Bay: Tribe to update plan to prepare for impacts of natural hazards - Responding to federal mandates in the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000, the Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe will update its hazard mitigation plan and their mitigation strategies that can be consistently applied to the planning area in an effort to enhance resilience on the reservation.

Shoalwater: Tribe expands its tourism niche - The Shoalwater Tribe is the only federally recognized Indian tribe in Pacific and Clatsop counties, occupying a small but scenically well-endowed reservation near Willapa Bay�s north entrance. Jon Panamaroff is chief executive officer of the tribe�s Willapa Bay Enterprises, which operates the tribe�s tourism-based businesses including the Shoalwater Bay Casino, the Georgetown Station and the Tradewinds On The Bay inn.

Shoalwater Bay: Presentation on SR105 erosion at Sustainable Tokeland meeting Thursday - A community meeting is set for 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 21, at the Shoalwater Bay Tribal Center to discuss the erosion effects to Highway 105 in the North Cove and Tokeland area.

Shoalwater: County, Tribe sign �historic� agreement - Pacific County recently arrived at a mutual-aid agreement with the Shoalwater Tribe.

Shoalwater Bay: Burglary in progress leads to arrest in Pacific County - The Pacific County Sheriff�s Deputies arrested a 38 year old Westport man on Tuesday after a neighbor reported a burglary in progress. A deputy, with assistance from the Shoalwater Bay Tribal Police Chief, got to the home and found the neighbor had pushed a picnic table against the door to the home. The Westport man was arrested and transported to the Pacific County Jail.

Shoalwater Bay: Pacific County prepares for tsunami debris - The Pacific County Emergency Management Agency plans public forums Jan. 17 and 18 at Seaview, Ocean Park and Tokeland to help prepare residents for debris from the Japanese tsunami expected to wash ashore on coastal beaches. Representatives from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the state Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs, the state Health Department and other agencies have been invited to answer questions. The Jan. 19 meeting in Tokeland will be at 5:30 p.m. in the Shoalwater Bay Tribal Center.
